Meet Karla Slater

Karla Slater is a member of the Red River Metis with family roots in St. Laurent, MB. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Red River College, completed in 2018.

Karla’s nursing career has focused primarily in Public Health, with experiences in the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority – Healthy Sexuality and Harm Reduction/ Street Connections team, Indigenous Services Canada – Public Health Unit and British Columbia’s Interior Health Region Public Health. Her work has been centered in harm reduction and sexual health, including supporting PHIMS initiatives since 2019.

In April 2026, Karla joined the FNHSSM eHealth team as a PHIMS Trainer and is passionate about supporting First Nations communities in their eHealth journey.
